Bakken Project, Williston Basin, USDolan Integration Group (DIG) has recently completed a study of the oil and gas potential of the Upper and Lower Bakken Formations in the US portion of the Williston Basin. This study includes 765 well locations with 1767 Bakken samples that were collected by Leigh Price (USGS).
The data were filtered to remove unrelated and erroneous data points. The filtered RockEvalTM parameters were averaged at a location over the interval of the Upper Bakken and over the interval of the Lower Bakken. Derived parameters, such as Transformation Ratio and Vitrinite Reflectance Equivalent, were calculated from the filtered averaged data. The averaged filtered RockEvalTM parameters and derived parameters were gridded using a Kriging algorithm with customized variograms. The grids were inspected and outliers removed and then re-gridded. This iterative process was repeated until satisfactory maps were achieved.
The Bakken Project includes: 1) ArcMapTM MXD files with all of the grids, layers, and cross plots; 2) ESRI shapefiles and raster files; 3) PowerPoint presentations that describe the analysis and results; 4) all raw data in a relational database stored in your choice of Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
